[DEU] In einem Jahr, in dem Banken vom Staat gerettet werden müssen oder Pleite gehen, fanden SECRET CITIES einen Proberaum im Keller einer kürzlich geschlossenen Bank in Kansas, Missouri.

Komplett mit schusssicherem Glas, funktionierender Rohrpost und einem riesigen Tresor wurde dieser Ort zum Studio, als die Band ihre zweites Album "Strange Hearts" aufnahm.

Für den Nachfolger des inzwischen 5 jahre alten Debüts entschieden SECRET CITIES einen radikal anderen Ansatz zu wählen.

Die Band setzte sich eine Deadline und so wurde "Strange Hearts" innerhalb von drei intensiven, schlaflosen aber sehr kreativen Monaten geschrieben und aufgenommen.

Die Mühen wurden belohnt mit einem Pop Diamant, kristallisiert unter enormen Druck. Die klassischen Romantizismen einer Dusty Springfield und der Shangri-Las wurden durch das SECRET CITIES Kaleidoskop betrachtet, eine verführerische Mischung aus Melancholie und hoffnungsfroher Unschuld, warm und einladend, dabei schwer fassbar und eigen.

"Strange Hearts" ist der Sound einer jungen Band, die ihre Grenzen auslotet, nur um festzustellen, dass diese noch nicht erreicht sind.

Complete with bulletproof glass, functioning pneumatic tubes, and a giant vault, this space served as the band's studio as they recorded their sophomore effort, Strange Hearts.

After recording their debut at a glacial pace over five years, Secret Cities decided to try something radically different.

Working against a self imposed deadline, Strange Hearts was written and recorded within three intense, creatively fertile (if sleepless) months.

The effort paid off with a taught pop record, crystallized like coal under enormous pressure.

Filtering the classic romanticism of Dusty Springfield and the Shangri-Las through their own kaleidoscopic aesthetic, these songs pulse with an alluring mixture of melancholy and hopeful innocence, as warm and inviting as they are elusive and peculiar.

While carefully crafted, the album possesses a newfound brevity and directness rooted in the excitement of creation.

Ultimately, "Strange Hearts" is the sound of a young band testing its limits and finding that it hasn't hit them yet.
