GREY FACTOR
A PEAK IN THE SIGNAL (LIVE 1979-1980) (TINY GLOBAL/DD)
More unearthed recordings from LA's art-damaged synth pioneers! The 2023 release of Grey Factor's '1979-1980 A.D.
Complete Studio Recordings' sold through three pressings in quick succession, prompting the band members to trawl through hours of ancient recordings to find this, the ultimate Grey Factory document - a complete live show, in excellent sound, which manages not to replicate a single song from the studio album.
As we wrote before: Pioneers of the Los Angeles underground art-damaged electronic music scene, Grey Factor have been more myth than legend for more than 40 years.
The band recorded two experimental synth post-punk sessions and made a famously riotous appearance on influential cable TV show New Wave Theatre before disbanding.
These recordings display the diversity of the band's invention and their odd-but unknown at-the-time sonic connections to contemporaneous artists such as Suicide, the earliest line-up of The Human League and many more.
There's good reason the unknown Grey Factor - who never released a recording in their lifespan - saw their previously released collection named one of the most pioneering 'synth pop' albums ever released, nearly 45 years after it was recorded.
Now here's more, this time live recordings. Strongly limited one-time pressing.
