BLACK BOOKS
EYES ON THE MIRROR, HEAD IN THE CLOUDS (COL. LP) (SHIFTING SOUNDS)
The third full-length album from Black Books "Eyes on the Mirror, Head in the Clouds" is the culmination of four years of writing, playing and recording at their home base of guitarist and producer Kevin Butler's recording studio, Test Tube Audio.
Eyes on the Mirror, Head in the Clouds showcases the band's enduring ability to marry loudness, depth and dreamy textures without losing sight of creating a great song.
This is the band wandering into the deep end, toes barely touching the bottom, stretching out and enjoying the new space.
Songs like "Why Do I Bother," "All I Need" and "Let Your Hair Down" delve into navigating adulthood in a mad and wonderful world, and all of the distractions, discrepancies and beauty that comes with it.
You may hear fatherly advice, musings on finding clarity in the chaos of life, or gentle reminders not to lose yourself on the way to becoming yourself.
Black Books is 15 years into honing their sound, and their time together on and off the stage has developed an easy confidence.
While music venues have closed, reopened and changed names, the band continues to show up and play.
From its humble beginnings in an orange garage in Manor, Black Books has opened for The Flaming Lips at the famed Roundhouse in London, toured England and New York, played numerous SXSW Music Festival showcases, and garnered hundreds of thousands of fans from across the globe.
Their songs steadily been playing on digital music services across the U.S., United Kingdom and Europe.
The vinyl colour is called Grey Matter!
