STOOGES, THE
WHISKEY A GO-GO (2021 SPLATTER VINYL) (EASY ACTION)
(Live at the) Whiskey a Go-Go is a live album by The Stooges of the post Raw Power area. Produced by Ron Asheton and originally released in 1988, now reissued and renewed.
For the first time ever the complete set (inluding "Open Up And Bleed" and "Gimme Danger") is officially available on vinyl, also for the first time the audio is in correct speed.
Recordings were taped on September 16th in 1973 at the infamous Whiskey a Go-Go in Los Angeles and captures the Stooges at a pivotal point, just as they were about to break up.
Iggy & the Stooges careen out of control as the singer taunts the audience and the band tries to keep it together.
A handful of rarities, such as "Head On," are featured in addition to a selection of material drawn mainly from Raw Power, but the actual songs aren't that important -- it's how the band sounds, and they do sound raw, abrasive, and frightening.
This 2LP reissue comes in white with black splatter vinyl and deluxe gold mirror board gatefold sleeve, briliant pics from the gig are included on the printed inners as well.
The speed of the audio has been corrected, cleaned and newly mastered for vinyl. Still it's a rough listening experience, but with quite a historic dimension (The Splatter Vinyl initially was exclsusively to RSD 2021.)
