HEDERA HELIX is the debut recording by London hardcore band PINK GRIP. Enmeshed in the febrile London punk scene, Pink Grip are a four piece who gel into one apocalyptic hammer.
The guitars revel in metallic overtones and palm muted power chords, doom-laden changes and visceral tones that seem to battle with the savage, rasped vocal.
In opener Crotch Pocket, a monolithic intro collapses into a pulverising D-Beat section reminiscent of Japanese Burning.
Spirit bands such as Bastard, with following track Out Of Luck mixing up a Hot Snakes style guitar with the rabid spitting lyrics.
Spithead is a mosh-heavy stomper, a mid-paced pit-leveller driven by massive sounding low-heavy tom drums and a dynamic that rises and falls into troughs of malevolence.
Closer Listerine is the most hook-heavy track, erupting into a driving break-neck song that breaks down in an evil ecstasy
