EIVOR
ROOM (TUTL RECORDS)
Eivor was born on the Faroe Islands in 1983. From the very beginning, her roots on this remote yet beautiful island have served as a source of musical inspiration for the singer, musician and songwriter, who has a voice of rare beauty and power.
At the age of 15, Eiv¢r decided to dedicate her life entirely to music. In addition to her strong love of Faroese culture, the other Nordic countries also served as a source of inspiration for her.
She spent some time in Iceland and was honored with the title "Icelandic Singer of the Year" as a Faroese singer in 2003.
Not only does Eiv¢r feel at home in different countries, she also playfully alternates between different possibilities of her musical work in her arrangements: she sometimes performs as a solo singer and accompanies herself or she is supported by her band and presents a mixture of traditional songs and her own compositions.
However, she feels just as at home performing with other musicians, who can come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Many of Eiv¢r's songs are in Faroese, many others in Icelandic and lately she has been leaning more and more towards singing in English.
Her music encompasses not only a wide range of musical influences, but also emotions: For example, her songs deal with themes such as love, loss, memories and freedom, but also of nature.
Eiv¢r's voice captivates with its extraordinary and characteristic beauty, is unique in its intimacy, effortless virtuosity and variety of coloration.
These are consistent from her first recordings, made at the age of 16, to her latest album.
She is also a captivating live performer, delivering a spirited and heart-warming stage show.
Eiv¢r is also described by the press as a "Viking goddess" who has an "extraordinary presence" and produces music that is "achingly beautiful".
Eiv¢r is arguably at the height of her artistic powers, she is a highly acclaimed singer and composer who, despite her global dimension, always places great importance on maintaining a close connection to the culture of the Faroe Islands.
