HAMFERD
VILST ER SIDSTA FET (TUTL RECORDS)
In the band's short lifetime of 5 years, Wacken Metal Battle winners of 2012 Hamfer- have achieved a lot.
Founded in 2008 for a Global Battle of the Bands event, the band lay dormant for a year before recording their first demo in 2009, one of which accidentally landed at #1 on the Faroese radio charts for three weeks during the spring of 2010.In February 2010 the band won an annual upcoming band-competition in Tórshavn called Sement, which gave the band a chance to perform at some of the larger events during the festival summer such as G! Festival and Summarfestivalurin.
The following December the debut EP "Vilst er sí-sta fet" was released and has received great reviews so far.
2011 was a very active year for the band. In January the band toured The Faroe Islands to promote their debut release, and during the summer they toured Iceland and The Faroe Islands (again) with Viking-metal band Skálmöld, most notably performing at the cult festival of Eistnaflug and at G! Festival for a second successive year.
The band returned to Iceland in October to play Iceland Airwaves, and in November they joined Moonsorrow, T_r and Crimfall on a stretch of the Dead Tyrants Tour through Europe, garnering much praise despite being the odd one out on the tour.
2012 proved even more successful for the band. Slowly commencing the writing process for their debut album, the band also went on win the national round of the first Faroese Wacken Metal Battle, and emerged victorious in the finals at Wacken against contestants from 29 other countries.
The success at Wacken gave way to extensive exposure and positive feedback from nearly all promoters at the festival.
At the start of 2013, the doomy sextet again forged ahead, delivering a great show at the annual Eurosonic festival in nothern Holland.
Immediately following this show, the band made it possible to play a venue which no one would have imagined: Havnar Kirja, the oldest church in the capital of Tórshavn.
The show was given special treatment, with organs and the participation of Tórshavnar male choir in the psalm "Harra Gu- títt D_ra Navn og Æra".
A daring move, but an ultimately highly successful one, which will be remembered as a milestone in the history of the Faroe Islands.
Hamfer- stride on without mercy, having signed an international management deal with TUTL Management and an international booking deal with Dragon Productions, which means that 2013 promises to be the most exciting year in the band_s career so far, and also marks the arrival of the highly anticipated debut album.
The journey has just begun.
