HOLOPAW
HOLOPAW (SUB POP)
HOLOPAW a five-piece from Gainesville, Florida, came to Sub Pop's attention by way of Isaac Brock who saw the band perform and asked leader John Orth to collaborate on the UGLY CASANOVA project.
John wrote lyrics and sang on some of the most outstanding moments on that record. The stripped acoustic arrangements on "Holopaw" are unsettled by electronic pulses and swells that fade in and out of songs like the warble of short-wave radio.
Recorded at Engine Studios in Chicago by Brian deck, this is as stunning a debut record as one is likely to hear in all of 2003!
