Calibro 35, the renowned Italian cinematic funk band sampled by Dr. Dre and Jay-Z, is set to reissue their fifth album, "S.P.A.C.E.", on March 25.
This reissue will feature a limited edition Crystal Orange vinyl and a digital deluxe edition with three bonus tracks, including "CLBR 35", and unreleased tracks "Omicron Paradox" and "The Haploids." This release is part of Record Kicks' trilogy, which also includes the reissues of the band's earlier albums.Recorded on an 8-track tape at London's Toe Rag Studios, where The White Stripes recorded "Elephant," "S.P.A.C.E." departs from the noir themes of previous albums.
Instead, it offers a funky soundtrack to an imaginary sci-fi film directed by Sergio Leone.
The album embraces synthesizers, with tracks ranging from the title piece to "Serenade for a Satellite" and "Bandits On Mars," showcasing cosmic afrobeat and lunar funk influences.
The recording process was live and direct to tape, ensuring a warm, tight sound.Active since 2008, Calibro 35 has gained a global following, performing alongside artists like Roy Ayers and Muse.
