Founding members Chris and Andy Kirk are brothers. Flames did not actually split up in the early 90's, but went into a period of minimal activity following the release of Nomen Illi Mors.

The band eventually split up after the release of In Agony Rise before reuniting once again in 2001.

Flames are still active to this day, despite having not released any new material since 1996.

Made a cover of "The Return of Darkness and Evil" for "Hellas Salutes the Vikings", a tribute album to Bathory.
