ACID ROOSTER
HALL OF MIRRORS (TONZONEN RECORDS)
The character of all ACID ROOSTER releases is defined by their respective development process. For example, the cosmic, swirling "Ad Astra" was created as a one-take during a private garden party.
The four tracks on the new album, mostly sprawling and with long playing times, were recorded in their basic structure in July 2022 on two days off during the band's very successful first UK tour at Dystopia Studios in Glasgow, Scotland.
However, as Acid Rooster had already recorded their previous album "Flowers & Dead Souls" in Bamberg, near their hometown of Schweinfurt, in May 2022, the studio session with Scottish producer Jason Shaw was of a more improvisational nature and the tracks were recorded without any significant preparation.
Back from the tour and after some time had passed, the three childhood friends recorded all kinds of overdubs to the tracks in Leipzig, their adopted home, turning "Hall of Mirrors" into an extremely multi-layered, very psychedelic soundscape.
Alongside additional guitar tracks and various percussion instruments, the album features saxophone, shruti box, synthesizer, mellotron, flute, vibraphone and much more.
The album was mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Joseph Carra at his Crystal Studios in Australia, who is also responsible for the sonic refinement of all King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard albums.
