The meeting of an ancient and ancestral instrument like the kora, in the hands of a virtuoso like Ballaké Sissoko, and electronics that expand the possibilities of the instrument itself, as proposed by Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch, is at the heart of Radicants.It's a search for new paths that have to do with immersion, abandonment and new roots.

Roots that are dynamic, that evolve and that are able to support the other. Respecting the idea of rootedness and projecting it into a kaleidoscopic, multifaceted world.

So there's no opposition between two worlds - acoustic and electronic, traditional and contemporary, African and Western - but rather acceptance, collaboration and risk-taking.

The goal is to create a true dialog between the two musicians, in which the kora is the source of everything, but the electronics are the evolution, the resonance and the form.

Ballaké Sissoko is a Malian kora player who has made a name for himself in both world music and jazz.Sissoko is the son of Jeli Madi Sissoko, who had a worldwide success with the LP Ancient Strings.

His son's album New Ancient Strings was able to repeat this success. Together with Toumani Diabaté, he is currently considered one of Africa's most outstanding kora players.

Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch is a composer and sound artist. His interests goes from pure electronics to compositions for theater and dance, from soundtracks for images to interactive installations and beyond.
