OBISPO, PASCAL
L'ARCHIPEL DES SÉQUELLES (COLOURED LP) (ATLETICO)
New album of previously unreleased songs by Pascal Obispo - Recorded and mixed by his faithful collaborator, Youri Benaïs, in his Paris studios.
Once again produced by his two new wave jazz friends, Fred Nardin and Max Pinto, this concept album of intimate, acoustic, jazz-influenced love songs is based exclusively on encounters with female artists with inspiring voices.
Zazie, with whom he had not sung since 'Les meilleurs ennemis', with a song they had written together and never recorded.
Carla Bruni, author of two songs she knows all about. Elodie Frégé, with whom he has already shared two songs on her album 'le grand amour'.
Nolwenn Leroy, for whom he produced his very first single 'Cassé'. Anne Sila, the sublime interpreter of Mary in his musical about Jesus of Nazareth.
Sharon Laloum, the interpreter of Myriam in the new version of The Ten Commandments, not forgetting Isabelle Boulay, the great Quebec artist for whom he has already written songs, and Nawel Ben Kraïem, the young Tunisian artist with whom he worked on his first musical project.
The rest of the album was co-written with Pierre-Dominique Burgaud. The album 'L'archipel des Séquelles' continues Pascal Obispo's quest for beauty and silence.
CD and coloured LP available. Pascal Obispo, a French singer-songwriter from Bergerac, started out as a bass player in the new wave band Senso in 1988 and later took on the role of lead singer.
His first solo album, Le Long du Fleuve, was released in 1990 and was recorded with the members of Senso.
The album went largely unnoticed by critics, but it helped Pascal Obispo land a record deal with Epic, where Plus Que Tout au Monde was released in 1992.
With the title track and other singles such as "Tu vas me manquer", he cemented his status as one of the fastest rising stars in French pop music.
He followed this success with Un Jour Comme Aujourd'hui in 1994, which reached number 17 in the French charts and went platinum.
Both Superflu (1996) and Soledad (1999) reached number 2 in France, and the live album Live 98 (1998) brought him his first number 1 record.
In the following years, Pascal Obispo repeated this feat several more times with the albums Studio Fan - Live Fan (2004), Les Fleurs du Bien (2006), Millésimes (2013) and Billet de Femme (2016).
France, his eleventh album, was released in 2021 and only just missed the top spot in the album charts, landing at number 2.
