LONG TALL TEXANS
THE DEVIL MADE US DO IT (SUNNY BASTARDS)
CD-Reissue of this seminal Neo-Psycho/Rockabilly band! 10 years after their release available again: Long Tall Texans' masterpiece.
This album lets Marc Carew (also singer of the Hotknives) and his trio venture into surprising territories, which can be described as a great 'Sugar-Psycho-Country-Rockabilly- Westernpunk-Cocktail!' Even if colleagues such as METEORS, POLECATS or FRENZY are certainly ahead of the British trio in the public perception, the LONG TALL TEXANS around singer, songwriter and double bassist MARC CAREW, who also plays in the no less cultishly revered ska band THE HOTKNIVES, have been successful in the business for a almost 40 years.
The band's trademark has always been a psychobilly sound with a strong overhang of neo-rockabilly, which always integrates elements of surf, country & western or garage in a quirky, likeable way and comes across with an almost light-footed, catchy pop flavour.
In the heyday of psychobilly at the end of the 80s, the band thus behaved in contrast to many of their genre colleagues, who were consistently moving in a faster, harder and darker direction.
With songs such as `Kill Me', `Sex & Beer & Psychobilly', `Covered In Sin' and `Girlfriend', the Brits show off the full wealth of their influences as well as their speechless routine and joy of playing, but also have a few songs in their luggage that are reminiscent of the earliest days of psychobilly.
You have to take the message of the album title from the likeable Brits - how else could they have delivered the absolute best album of their long career? An incomparable crossover firework that, unlike many other genre albums, radiates a lot of humour and joie de vivre.
Genre tip! Digipac-CD with 16page booklet!
