VILLAGES have achieved a rare feat. The second LP by the indie/post-punk trio "Excessive Demand" actually manages to create an absolutely catchy sound from complex ingredients, captivating sound from complex ingredients.
The vinyl release will be released together on October 28, 2022 on It's Eleven Records and Pike Records.
Unusual drum grooves drive the eight songs forward, while analog synthesizers and reverberated guitars add layer upon layer - the electronic coolness meets a warm bass sound warm bass sound and often fragile, polyphonic vocals.
Various influences from synth-pop, indie/art rock and post-rock, VILLAGES merge them into their original sound, sound that reveals new facets with every listen.
This reflects such different sources of inspiration for the trio such as Battles, Trail of Dead, LCD Soundsystem, Deerhunter, Pttrns, Chad VanGaalen and many more.
The album title "Excessive Demand" stands for the energy-guzzling everyday life that overshadows and destroys all utopian thoughts and efforts towards a fairer future and destroys them.
In their lyrics, the band takes a critical look at personal as well as social issues such as violence violence, mental illness, privileges, outdated role models and self-presentation.
Self-staging. "Excessive Demand" was recorded in summer 2021 with Roland Wiegner (productions including Jungbluth, Düsenjäger, The Hirsch Effekt) at the Tonmeisterei Oldenburg and was completed by the band in added synths and vocals on their own in Dresden.
Mix and mastering were also done by Roland Wiegner. The artwork was created by Fabian Bremer from Leipzig (Radare, AUA).
