RICHMAN, MINA
GROWN UP (BLACK VINYL) (WINDIG)
The opening track "Nearly To The End", "a wonderfully upbeat song that suggests that Amy Winehouse or the Alabama Shakes have a place in one or two of her playlists" (DIFFUS 2023) illuminates the beautiful sides of growing up: courage and loved ones who accompany you.
Songs such as "Grow Up", which almost gives the album its name, and "Too Young" address cultural uprooting, society's treatment of the female body and the pressures of growing up.
Experimental rap passages, the Persian instrument santur and even a mobile phone recording of a metal chain lend the songs ever new facets and playfulness.
The album ends with a piano ballad which, after all the pain, is about one thing above all: self-love and the realisation that you have never given up.
"The most remarkable debut album of this spring" (Musikexpress) "One of the indie pop albums of the year" (Sounds&Books)
