OLD GODS OF ASGARD
REBIRTH - GREATEST HITS (INSOMNIAC)
The Old Gods of Asgard, also known as Poets of the Fall, are once again part of the gaming world! Four previously released songs by the Old Gods of Asgard have already been listened to millions of times on Spotify.
The upcoming album, "Rebirth - Greatest Hits," includes four previously digitally released tracks and four brand new songs, three of which are featured in Remedy's game "Alan Wake 2." The game is set to be released on October 27, 2023.
"The making of 'Rebirth' was a bit like chasing stars in the seas of imagination. Additionally, it was immensely gratifying to witness the incredible talent and dedication of everyone involved in the project.
Everyone gave their all and truly poured themselves into it," commented Marko Saaresto, the lead singer of the band.
Remedy Entertainment is one of Finland's most successful gaming companies, and the upcoming "Alan Wake 2" game is one of Finland's all-time biggest entertainment productions.
It combines gameplay with live-action material and features many familiar actors from Finland and abroad.
The game continues the story of writer Alan Wake, which began in the first "Alan Wake" game in 2010.
Marko, Olli, and Captain from the band Poets of the Fall are appearing for the first time in "Alan Wake 2" as characters from the Old Gods of Asgard band.
"This is the culmination of a long and amazing journey among friends. A dream that came true.
The songs from the album have played a significant role in several of Remedy's games (Alan Wake, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Control, and Alan Wake 2), deepening the story or creating memorable scenes.
Hopefully, you will enjoy the music as much as we have enjoyed creating the band and the songs," commented Sami Järvi, Remedy's creative director.
So, the Old Gods of Asgard band is a collaborative creation of Sami Järvi from Remedy and Poets of the Fall, first heard in the "Alan Wake" game in 2010.
The band has its own story, history, and mythology within the universe of Remedy's games.
The lyrics of the songs are closely related to the game's plot and provide hints to players.
The band was last heard in Remedy's "Control" game in 2019, with the unique "Take Control" song being the first interactive rock song that changes with the game situation during a long battle scene.
The entire collaboration with Remedy began in 2003 with the game "Max Payne 2," which featured the band's first song, the hit "Late Goodbye." It won the "Grammy of the gaming world," the G.A.N.G.
Award for the best pop song in a video game. It was a great start for both the band's career and their collaboration with Remedy.
