A memorable evening with captivating jazz singer and activist Abbey Lincoln was a return to performing after being out of the public eye for some time, the show reproduced in 1991 but not released until 2005.

This theater performance, was presented "in the round" in 1991 at the Promenade Theater in New York City, had never been seen in its entirety before the initial release of the DVD.

Abbey Lincoln looks exquisite and is backed by a stellar jazz quintet. The show offers original compositions including :"Bird Alone" and "When I'm Called Home" as well as standards like "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime".

On Abbey Lincoln: - Worked with Thelonius Monk and Max Roach - Heavily influenced by Billie Holiday and Lena Horne - She was awarded the Jazz Masters Award from the National Endowment of the Arts for her lifetime achievement in jazz music - She was a major civil rights activist and advocate in the 60s - Nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in For Love Of Ivy, working with Sidney Poitier - She won Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival for her role in Nothing But A Man - She was married to renowned jazz drummer Max Roach - Abbey appeared in a number of films including For Love Of Ivy, Nothing But A Man and Mo' Better Blues and TV series including All In the Family and Mission Impossible
