JELKA - the new solo project of DUST COVERED CARPET frontman Volker Buchgraber. With his new bedroom project, he creates great pop moments with a bittersweet taste of melancholy.

Volker already proved his talent for highly emotional song writing on four albums with his former band Dust Covered Carpet.

JELKA carries on with the musical framework known from his previous project. The lyrics paint an image of Volker's emotional cosmos.

This emotionally, yet radically arranged album "Hold Sand" sleepwalks confidently in the footsteps of Xiu Xiu, Perfume Genius or Sparklehorse.

The album will not only be released digitally, but also as a vinyl LP, limited to 100 copies.

"This album was created between October 2016 and December 2019 with the intention of never being released.

The nine songs were written (on the album in chronological order) like a personal musical diary.

Almost two years after the completion, friends and people who knew my previous music projects convinced me to finally present something again.

With these new songs I process private issues as well as events from that period. Issues like closure and new beginnings (All your weight), rebuilding trust (Teeth), farewells and memories (Lake Estonia), long-distance relationships (A sea for two), Thursday and Friday demos (Empathy Fantasy), my burning house (Brandstifter) or the different roles within my family (When I see you) are dealt with.

All songs were recorded in solo work in my own home studio."
