"(Nathan Birk, Zero Tolerance UK) What a blast!!! DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT was born with the release of the selftitled and - produced debut album in February 2009 by Nikita and Tobias and then with their first official release became Germany's highest talented, intelligent Black Metal outfit - this is what partners like Metal Hammer say.
However, the concept and idea that underlie the band was formed one and a half years earlier, when, following the disbandment of predecessor band FROSTGRIM, there continued to exist the creative urge to express oneself lyrically and musically through melodic and atmospheric Black Metal.
The first edition (200 copies) of the debut was offered through the band's homepage and was sold out within one month.
At the beginning of 2009 the decision was made to reject the drumcomputer and to re-record the first album with real drums played by Christian Bass (live-drummer for HEAVEN SHALL BURN among others).
It was released by Viva Hate Records and including the new track uhe' the debut hit opon surpassing feedback among the specialised press and fans.
Numerous reviews and several interviews in respective print- and online-magazines surpassed.
With the release of the album on May 7th 2010 the band could also celebrate their stage debut at Friction Fest in Berlin followed by a couple of support-shows for Southern Lord-Heros WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM as well as many further gigs (with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER - who became huge fans, AGRYPNIE, NEAERA, BESATT, IMPERIUM DEKADENZ, EIS und DESPISED ICON among others).
In March 2011 the second work "Agonie" was recorded together with producer Eike Frees at Hammer Studios Hamburg (NEGATOR, DARK AGE, TODTGELICHTER, GAMMA RAY and many others).
Compared to the debut, the 5-track EP is characterized by a more melancholic-obscure atmosphere which appears though the music and lyrics as well as through the artwork (by Broken Press USA).
The interlude is an interpretation of Erik Satie's "ANA". The band keeps it rolling!
