'DAUGHTER' is debut album from Helsinki based quintet The Holy. The album tells of a boy growing up in a small Northern town that is beaten and bruised by the 90's recession.

Living in a broken family who are all striving to deal with the common social problems of the time.

He tries to understand, and be a part of some larger entity, without the promise of it's worth or knowing if it is even an important goal in life.

The lyrics are a self-portrait from the youth of The Holy 's singer and songwriter, Eetu Henrik Iivari.

In Iivari 's words, and a direct quote from the first single. Land Before Time - "and we don't know, how to be a part of this world, dividing all the time, the higher ground is higher than we thought and the darkness is getting darker allthe time, there must be something more, like in 'the land before time" Daughter was written and recorded in the former village school of Tyrväntö, Hattula located in their native Finland, where the band resided for long periods of time during 2017.

The atmosphere of that old, wooden building in the remote countryside is an important element in the album.

The pressure of its old walls creaking in the background can be felt on the record.

Sound-wise, the album follows on from the band's 2016 EP `More Escher and Random Notes' With a whole lot of drums, deep lows and airy guitars with Eetu Henrik Iivari's Springsteen-aesthetic singing.

The songs draw from the balance between dark and light, with moments of deep anxiety exploding into rapturous hope.
